The Trip Down

Cedric will only notice later that the man standing in front of the convenience store has a gun and was staring at the cashier seriously.  He turned left and saw a black limousine parked at the side.  He stopped at the window and tapped it.

The door clicked open and Cedric climbed in.  He sat beside a guy in black and asked, ” Everything set?”

The guy replied, “Yes, Cedric, as you wished.”  And the car started to move.

“How long will this trip take?” Cedric asked.

“Less than an hour,” the guy answered.  “Though, I must say I am still surprised that you approached us for this errand.”

“I need to go there. I need to know if it exists.”

The guy in black laughed.  “What you do not know won’t hurt you, you know?”

The trip continued without any other conversation and the car slowed in a warehouse.  The gates were opened by a guard and the car sped in.  “Welcome to the Gate,” the guy said.

The car entered an underway lit by dim lamps on the wall.  “You ready, Cedric?”

“Can’t wait.”

The way was a spiral tunnel going down.  Cedric could feel sweat on his forehead as it started to become warm.  He expected such though.  He knew the destination is near.

Minutes later, the car slowed and the lights were brighter.  They are approaching what seems to be an iron gate which was slowly opening.  Cedric braced himself as the car went in.

“This is it?” Cedric said.

“Yes, Cedric, this is hell.”

Cedric was looking at the convenience store he passed a while ago.  Not far are a group of girls in skimpy clothes talking to men in a van.  Three of the girls stepped in, laughing as they slid money in their pockets.

A tall man covered with grease passed by in front of the limousine and tapped the door, begging for anything the driver can give.  The driver did not move a bit and instead looked at the other side of the car.

The man in front of the store entered the glass doors and went to the cashier.  Soon, shouts emanated from inside and some gunfires heard.

“But this is where I was a while ago,” Cedric said.  “You’re kidding me.”

“No, Cedric,” the guy in black answered.  “You wanted to go to hell.  I tell you, it exists and you are in it now.”
