The Now

A rainbow
     A beggar’s treasure
over his tin can filled with rain
 and two coins
Fades
     As the last raindrop dries

A novel
     Read by a man
Fall asleep cannot from a day
 Hours of joys and rot
Ends
     As the last period hits

A candle
     Gives light to the child
 Lost along the park
 Watching shadows pass by
Dims
     As the warmth is consumed

Coffee
     Brewed strong and hot
By the man a minute from bed
 An eternity to life
Turns cold
     Left on the table

A toffee
In the mouth of a traveller
 Sweet food
 Long way home
Melts
     Fills an empty stomach

A conversation
     Whisper that made someone cry
 But smiled
 A shout againts sadness
Gone silenced
     The last words spoken

A butterfly
     Fluttering over the vendor’s
     Dry flowers of spring
Only two days it flies
Caught by the lost boy
 Yet still

One Response to “The Now”

  1. It moved me…like a lost boy finding his way to the end of the tunnel…. its still a long way to El Dorado… but there are peach blossoms along the journey. Thanks for the now, for the fullness of the moment. Blessed be…. :-)
